Teaching, much like nursing, is a profession that attracts a very special kind of person.
With things such as money and power often not being motivating factors, the passion to become a teacher comes from a more altruist place: the desire to inspire, help and influence others.
And it’s this exact intention – the genuine desire to help others – that shines through and leads to a teacher’s (therefore a student’s) success. As scientific studies have shown that a whopping 93% of what you communicate comes through non-verbal communication.
Which means if your intention is off, it’s communicated through things like the way you stand, eye contact and a bunch of other non-verbal reactions that for the most part, you’re unaware of.
And the reason these non-verbal cues are so important is because they speak to the unconscious mind. You see, the unconscious mind has the capacity to process an infinite amount of information.
Whereas the conscious mind can only absorb 5-9 bits of information at once. Meaning to have the greatest impact on your students, you need to communicate with them at an unconscious level.
