If you haven’t heard of Dr. David Spiegel, let us introduce him…

He’s the Associate Chair of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences, Director of the Center on Stress and Health, in addition to the Medical Director of the Center for Integrative Medicine at Stanford University School of Medicine.

During his 40 years of clinical research, he’s specialized in psycho-oncology, stress and health, pain control, psychoneuroendocrinology, sleep and psychotherapy for cancer patients.

But another field that’s close to his heart is hypnosis – having conducted an extensive number of clinical studies, in addition to publishing many medical journals, articles and even book chapters on the topic.

One of his most notable clinical trials studied the effects of self-hypnosis coupled with support groups to relieve pain and mental distress in cancer patients.
